Mark Hellyer
I am a modern languages graduate and have the RSA Dip TEFLA and a PG Diploma in Linguistics (TESOL). I have taught in Europe and the Middle East, set up and managed pre-sessional courses at the University of Wolverhampton, been the principal of a BC-accredited year-round school in Torquay, and acted as a local supervisor for participants on the IH distance learning RSA Dip TEFLA course. I am currently the academic director of a multi-centre operation in the UK, which recently gained British Council accreditation at the first attempt. I have written the Everyday English short course, and have just finished A Very Short Guide to Britain, also aimed at foreign students.

After my MA in Ancient Greek Civilisation I wanted to travel and remembered the weekend TEFL course I had done after my degree. I jumped on a plane to Italy and never looked back. I have since taught English at all levels to many different nationalities, including 2 years at university in Japan. I also furthered my qualifications by completing the DELTA. I currently work at Brasshouse Language Centre in Birmingham where I teach IELTS and General English and am also a freelance EFL trainer. I first worked for LSC in the summer of 2007 as a Director of Studies which I thoroughly enjoyed due to the professionalism of the staff and the enthusiasm of the students.
