How teaching abroad is good for the soul!

Tips

There are lots of benefits when it comes to teaching English abroad. After all, it’s certainly a good job choice if you want to see the world, start your career, and save money all at the same time. Of course, there’s a lot of reasons why people consider this career and the list that follows contains only a few of the highlights.

Higher social awareness. You can only learn so much about a culture by going on a guided tour and spending a few days there on holiday. Staying in a country for a great deal longer than the average traveler allows you to get outside the obvious tourist spots and find out what real local life looks like. It allows you to learn about the people and culture in a way that you wouldn’t by taking a package tour. Living in a country allows you to assimilate and get under the skin of your new home.

Real world experience. Teaching TEFL is a real job, with all the responsibilities that go with it. It’s also a great way for young travelers to get the real-world experience they need to land a job when they choose to return home. Being able to successfully hold down a job in another country stands out on a resume and it’s also a great talking point for any future interviews. See the looks of amazement and admiration when you tell friends back home you spent a year teaching English in Japan!

Work-life balance. Although this factor is becoming a major consideration when it comes to selecting any job, its a particularly important one for people that want to travel. With regular holidays, weekends, national holidays and long semester breaks, it’s easy to see why people looking for a good work-life balance choose to teach English in other countries. Some companies even go so far as to handle your lessons plans, leaving you with more free time to experience all the great things that your new home has to offer.

As you can see, the perks of teaching TEFL make it a great job choice for people from all walks of life. Why wait? If you’re from an English-speaking country, you can probably find a position and start working right away!
