FAQs

Most first-time teachers should expect to earn €15-€20 per hour, which translates to €1,500-€2,000 per month if you work full-time (usually around 25 hours per week, face to face teaching time in a classroom).

Spain is a lively and highly social country with a rich history, mouthwatering food, and a laid-back way of life that makes it a popular hub for TEFL teachers. Whether you want to dine out on tapas, hit the local beach or soak up beautiful Spanish architecture, Spain offers something for everyone!

English is now taught in Spanish schools from an early age, and the Spanish Ministry of Education hires English speakers to serve as language assistants throughout the country. This means English teachers are in high demand year-round in Spain.

Most teachers will need a recognised teaching certificate, such as TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA, in order to teach English in Spain. A bachelor's degree is not always required although can be beneficial when searching for jobs.

It is not a requirement to have Spanish language ability in order to teach English in Spain. Your classes will be English immersion and so students will be expected to communicate in English during your lesson. Obviously, a little Spanish can go a long way outside of the classroom though!
